For most, Bosch is a household name. Provider of household appliances from Washing Machines through to DIY Hardware, but the company perform a much wider contribution towards our modern day technology as students in Cluj-Napoca recently learned.

Bosch - Autonomous Driving - Cluj-NapocaCluj, one of Romania’s top destination for further education and home to a number of Bosch offices and centres, recently received a visit from the German engineering company, who educated students about autonomous driving in the companies first edition of a course dedicated to the subject, in collaboration with The Technical University of Cluj-Napoca (Universitatea Tehnica din Cluj-Napoca).

Bosch - Autonomous Driving - Cluj-NapocaThe first course, named: “Autonomous driving: Technology, Dynamics and Control”, was launched at the start of 2017 – 2018 academic term which concluded late in late January. Focusing on autonomous driving, it gave Romanian students that opportunity to study and learn about this exciting new technology under the expert guidance of Bosch engineers and staff.

Lasting 13 courses and 13 lab sessions, the students were one of the first to work with the state-of-the-art technology in this field and were educated on how these future-shaping techniques are being used to shape our futures, and understand the basics of how they work, covering technologies and subjects such as, sensor fusion, connectivity, or steering systems.

“The collaboration with the Technical University is a priority for Bosch. The practical experience of the students, the future technology experts, is very important because the theoretical knowledge alone does not give them a complete picture of the latest technologies,” –  Dennis Raabe, manager of the Bosch Engineering Center in Cluj-Napoca.
