The National Institute of Public Health informed on Wednesday that, between January 1, 2023 and March 24, 2024, 9,695 cases of measles were confirmed, reports Agerpres.
In the last week, 850 new cases and two deaths were registered: a 26-year-old man, vaccinated against measles (2 doses), with multifactorial immunodepression (long-term corticosteroid therapy) and a 59-year-old woman, unvaccinated anti-measles, with plurifactorial immunodepression, multiple myeloma.
Since the beginning of the reporting period, January 1, 2023, there have been 11 deaths from measles. The 9,695 confirmed cases of measles were reported in 40 counties and in Bucharest. The most illnesses remain in the counties of Brasov – 1,526 and Mureş – 1,074 and in Bucharest – 1,127.
Between December 6, 2023 and March 24, 2024, according to the data extracted from the RENV, 104,003 doses of MMR vaccine were used, of which 16,755 were for children aged between 9 and 11 months.
