Romania promotes its tourism offer at ITB China, the most important trade exhibition dedicated exclusively to professionals, focused on the Chinese travel market, the Ministry of Economy, Entrepreneurship and Tourism announces.

Taking place in Shanghai from 27-29 May 2024, the event is an ideal platform for exhibitors to connect with travel agencies, hotels, airlines from around the world, as well as other entities operating in this sector, in order to concluding partnerships and business relationships.

The national stand, organized by the Ministry of Economy, Entrepreneurship and Tourism, has an area of ​​54 square meters and hosts the following partners: Holiday to Romania, World Synergy Travel, Global Transilvania Medical Health, Exact Tour, Borșa City Hall and the Maramureș Destination Management Organization .

“The Consulate General of Romania in Shanghai will organize, in a specially dedicated space, a series of tastings with Romanian products. During the entire duration of the exhibition, Mr. Gabriel Costin Furtună will support artistic moments, performing authentic songs on the nai”stated the Economy, Entrepreneurship and Tourism.

On the occasion of the official opening of the event, HE Mr. Horia-Dan Maxim, the Ambassador of Romania to the People's Republic of China, HE Mr. Radu Fodoreanu, the Consul General of Romania in Shanghai, and Mr. Andrei Panait, economic advisor within the Office, were also present at the national stand of Commercial-Economic Promotion Shanghai. Romanian officials expressed appreciation for Romania's participation in ITB China, considering this action a real opportunity to increase the visibility of our destination in this important market.

In order to maximize our country's presence at ITB China, the ministry will also organize a special event, entitled “Romania: The Gateway to Eastern Europe – Networking & Business Opportunities”.

The World Tourism Organization has presented an optimistic outlook, which predicts that around 100 million Chinese tourists are expected to spend their holidays abroad by 2025. In light of recent trends, China is on track to reach this goal sooner.

How many Chinese tourists arrive in Romania

In the ranking of the countries sending tourists to Romania, based on the statistics made available by the National Institute of Statistics, China occupied 18th place in 2019 – a reference year for Romanian tourism, with a number of 41,873 visitors.

Thus, taking into account the existing potential, by participating in ITB China, we want to increase the visibility of our country, as well as strengthen the position as an increasingly attractive and attractive tourist destination for Chinese tourists.

Romania's participation in this edition of ITB China was proposed and approved within the Tourism Consultative Council, a body that brings together representatives of employers and professional associations in tourism.
