Clotilde Armand wants a deep restart of USR. “I will not point the finger at those responsible for the poor result”

The Mayor of Sector 1, Clotilde Armand, stated that USR needs “a restart”, starting with the internal reconstruction. The mayor who lost the elections for a new mandate, says that he will not point the finger at the people responsible for this year's results of the formation and announces that he will launch a platform open to the public “to answer us about what we did wrong and how they think we can do better”.

USR point. And from the beginning. A new beginning – restart. After every round of elections, people are looking for culprits, after every election there are satisfied people and dissatisfied people. Blaming your co-workers and swearing at them in public is the coolest thing these days. For now. Because the audience needs blood and parties devour their leaders in such situations. Of course there is also a power struggle or internal power grab. And it is natural that it should be so. But I propose something else. Because many of you have asked me what is the next step for me, for USR, for all those who feel abandoned, betrayed, disappointed, fed up, tired, angry, outraged and resigned“, said Clotilde Armand, on Sunday, in a post on X.

The Mayor of Sector 1, a member of the USR, believes that to evolve, honesty and the recognition of guilt are important “where I went wrong and where it went wrong“, at the same time he believes “strongly”, “that now is the time for a deep restart of the USR”. “A good moment when we have to look in the mirror and stop lying to ourselves, recognize ourselves and remember what united us all together: ginists, barnists, clotildists, nichosorists, etc. I believe that from this zero moment we can restart the engines at full speed, from the things that hold us all together: honor, competence, meritocracy, transparency“, added Armand, specifying that he will not point the finger at the people responsible for the poor results of the party.

Clotilde Armand proposes to party members and citizens who support them, “a reconciliation and a fundamental reconstruction of the USR“.

I will soon be launching a public platform here for all of us citizens to respond to what we did wrong and how they think we can do better. Because I don't think that only we (USR) are the smartest, because we need to return more than ever to the people who believed and still believe in us“, claims Armand.

USR restart

Thus, according to the mayor of Sector 1, the USR restart must start the internal reconstruction from here:

1. “Democracy in the party – the composition of the Political Committee, the verification of email addresses for electronic voting, without abusive decisions of the National Bureau, etc.

2. Transparency – grant money, publication of CVs and contracts;

3. Solidarity in the party for small branches;

4. Meritocracy in the party;

5. The list is open. (I will soon announce the document here for you to participate in my proposal)”, notes Clotilde Armand.

She also presented a “short balance”, noting that there are 5 counties that increased by more than 10,000 votes: “Bucharest, the strongest in the country, with an increase of 21,420 votes, followed by Timis, Brasov, Ilfov and Cluj“.

At the same time, in 4 USR counties there was a drop in votes of over 10,000 votes: “Bacău with 36,209 lost votes, Călărași, Vrancea and Prahova“.

Also, according to the mayor, there are UATs in which “with enormous and constant effort” USR managed to reduce PSD PNL below the majority:

Sector 1:

2020: PSD PNL: 15 councilors (out of 27); USR PMP: 12 advisors

2024: PSD PNL: 11 councilors (out of 27); ADU REFER: 13 councillors: GOLD: 3 councillors.

I think we are the first significant UAT in Romania where PSD PNL no longer has a majority and will not have it so easily again (just like in Timisoara). In 2020, in terms of the number of votes, the PSD candidate was close to the USR candidate in alliance with the PNL. In 2024, the number of votes for the USR candidate, according to the minutes modified by them, is very close to the sum of both PSD+PNL parties. The opposition has grown significantly in District 1 and I guarantee it will continue to grow“, said Clotilde Armand, urging the start of the reconstruction of the formation and the continuation “the fight for our cities and villages“.

Clotilde Armand lost the elections in Sector 1

The Central Electoral Bureau rejected on Saturday, June 15, 2024, the request to cancel the elections in the Sector 1 Electoral Constituency, formulated by the United Right Alliance USR – PMP – Forța Dreptei.

The BEC then argued that “the petitioner's notifications do not include other reasons and are not accompanied by evidence to prove them“.

The current mayor of District 1, Clotilde Armand, candidate from the United Right Alliance (ADU) for a new mandate, who lost the elections to the candidate of the PSD-PNL Alliance, George Tuță, made a series of extremely serious accusations regarding election fraud held on Sunday, June 9, 2024. Clotilde Armand requested a recount of the votes for the District 1 City Hall, stating, among other things, that “us there are a lot of votes missing in problem precincts“.
