Romanians are met with high prices on the seaside, and many of them are disappointed by this. Resourceful, some of them go to buy beer from the supermarket, and cigarettes and food from their Bulgarian neighbors. It is more difficult with the sunbeds, which are more expensive than in Crete or Mamaia.
Vama Veche greets Romanians with high prices.
The summer season has already started for fans of the Vama Veche resort, especially since at the beginning of last month the “Coast for everyone” program was launched, through which Romanians benefit from cheap accommodation until June 20. However, the prices with which the tourists were greeted are as if higher than ever, a reason for dissatisfaction for many. On a Facebook group dedicated to the famous resort, netizens complain about the high prices.
A deckchair cost 80 lei, a member of the group complained, and this is where the discussions started. “80 lei to sit on a deckchair. Let's stop wondering why we don't have tourists… Shame“, he wrote. “A little bit. They could ask for kidneys for a week on the beach”, was someone else's irony.
“No one is forcing you to take a sunbed. Honestly, I have a beach towel,” wrote another. “You will also pay for the towel”, someone else warned him. “I'm getting my sheet ready…I want to smell the sand,” someone else said. “Regardless of whether it's a private beach or not, I sit directly on the sheet sitting on the sand, and if someone comments that why I'm not sitting on the deck chair I simply refuse to leave. That I just don't force myself off the beach.” another internet user intervened. “It will also give 100, you'll see”, another member of the group was alarmed.
More expensive than in Mamaia
“Those who say, sit on the sand, on the sand where? Since the most pleasant places were taken with a chaise longue, protested another Vama fan. “In Constanța, at the Beach, 3 slippers are 25 ron”, another wrote. “In Mamaia it's 30″, wrote a lady. “In Crete, the resort of Rethimo, in the center, there were 2 sunbeds with an umbrella between 5 and 9 euros”, wrote another. “Here I paid 30 lei for a deckchair two weeks ago! Now, 80. From July 100-120 possible!”, was a forecast.
But it's not only sunbeds that have become more expensive compared to last year. A beer ended up costing 14-15 lei on the beach, as expensive as in some much better rated resorts.
““Teddy Bear” at 0.33-7.5-8.5 lei“, someone wrote. “14 or 15 lei on the beach at Stuff, per pint (glass) – 400 ml“, another added. someone said. “Old downtown prices,” added another.
Inventive, some came up with ideas. “At Carffour it is 3.32 lei a teddy bear 0.33, at Vămă 7.5-8.5 lei it depends on the store”, someone else wrote. “Buy beer from Mangalia for 3.5 lei and stop at 12.13 lei per glass”, someone said.
“The fool is the one who gives”
“Just two weeks ago, at Bolo, I bought a draft beer for 25 lei. If I knew it cost that much, I wouldn't have bought it, but I had no way of knowing. Draft beer was not on the menu. Last week I ended up doing some work on the beach on May 2, where… surprise… the same beer was 8 lei. I never go to Bolo again!”, another shouted his displeasure.
“Don't forget that Lidl Mangalia is not far, and when we go to the Bulgarians for cigarettes we can also fill up the stock of beer, 30 minutes on foot”, someone else came up with an idea. “True, true is exactly what I do at Bulgarschi“, he was immediately proved right.
“Mangalia – Penny, Carrefour – beer boxes. And to add to the wit that at the Customs…bankruptcy“, wrote another disgruntled.
“The one who gives is stupid … If they were left with unsold goods, the prices would be corrected”another member of the group said.
