The head of CNAIR Cristian Pistol states that, by the end of Sunday, the deforestation works in the Olt Valley will reach over 26% of the total forest area that needs to be cleared.
“Today I checked the deforestation works in the Olt Valley. The pace of work is good, although the teams encountered, in the 7 days since the operations began, a series of difficulties related to the structure and the specifics of the terrain. By the end of the day, they will reach over 26% of the total forest area that needs to be cleared”, wrote Cristian Pistol on Facebook.
He states that at this rate, from next week, connections between the open work points will begin to be ensured, and later they will continue the clearing of more extensive forest areas on the site of the future section 2 of the Sibiu – Pitesti highway.
“We asked the Turkish contractor (Mapa-Genghiz Association) to look for solutions to increase as much as possible the number of machines and workers in the lighter areas, in order to increase the efficiency of the works. The contractor assured me that from next week he will take this measure for two points because now the work platform allows it. But in the difficult areas located at height, more machines cannot be brought because there is not enough space to maneuver”, explained the head of CNAIR.

Regarding the resulting wood, Cristian Pistol states that he drew the attention of the site manager to ensure that the Government Decision is respected, and that the wood mass be handed over to the Forest Departments, the town halls and the citizens who were granted compensation in kind.
Deforestation works have exceeded 23% of the 10 ha of forest in the critical area, CNAIR officials announced yesterday, July 13, in a message posted on social media. “After 6 days, the teams are getting closer to ensuring the connection between the work points. Deforestation operations in the Olt Valley also take place during the weekend so that the interval imposed for the closure of traffic on the Boita – Lazaret sector of the DN7, between July 8 and August 9, can be respected. This evening, from 8:00 p.m., the traffic was reopened and tomorrow at 6:00 a.m. the works will resume, according to the established schedule,” the message sent by the institution shows.
The Sibiu – Pitesti highway closed traffic on the Oltului Valley
Road traffic on DN 7, Valea Oltului, was closed for one month, starting from July 8, for clearing works, in order to prepare the land for the construction of the Sibiu – Pitesti highway. The cars cannot circulate between 06.00 and 20.00, except for those of the intervention institutions, which will be accompanied by the builder’s crews. River residents benefit from two special intervals to be able to go/return from work.
