Delivery platform Glovo revealed that pizza and beer dominated the food and drink categories, reflecting fans’ food preferences during Euro 2024.

Pizza was clearly Romanians’ favorite during football matches, with a significant increase in orders on key days of the competition. At the final of the European Championship, played between Spain and England, the demand for pizza increased by 24%.

Apart from pizza, the Romanians also opted for burgers and grill dishes during the matches.

For example, on June 17, during the Romania-Ukraine match, which ended with the victory of the national team, pizza orders were 22% higher than on a normal day, burger orders increased by 14%, while orders for grill type dishes increased by 18%. Also during this game, the demand for the products from the American cuisine increased by 46%, but also those from the Greek cuisine (33%), as well as sushi orders (31%).“, it is specified in the Glovo press release.

Snacks, a popular choice

Unsurprisingly, in the snack category, seeds were the stars, recording an impressive 75% increase in orders. Popcorn and chips were next.

In the beverage category, beer was indispensable in all the matches played.

Moreover, during the Romania – Ukraine match, beer orders on the platform increased by 93%, and on June 26, during the Romania – Slovakia match, an increase of 84% was recorded. In the final of the European Championship on July 14, between Spain and England, Romanians preferred pizza, with a 24% increase in demand compared to normal days. Burgers and chicken products were also popular, and water and beer dominated the drinks list. Snacks were particularly represented by seeds, with a 22% increase in demand during the Spain v England football match.
