The leader of the social democrats was asked by journalists about his candidacy for the position of president of Romania.

“We will see who the congress will choose as the candidate of the Social Democratic Party. I, personally, at this moment, have decided within the National Political Council to have a congress on August 24. It is true, I will run for a new term of president of the Social Democratic Party. And in the same congress the PSD candidate for the position of president will be elected. I told you that there will be a regulation that follows, after we finish these conferences, when the candidates are registered, which it’s the period, what are the rules. I’m going to ask for one rule, which is common sense and correct, from which organization you are registered, that organization must support you to run, not three, not 10, the basic organization”said Marcel Ciolacu.

He was asked if his presence at the election conference of PSD Sector 3 was aimed, among others, at obtaining support from the branch for the August 24 congress.

“We have nine organizations that haven’t held conferences. I don’t know if I’ll get to all of them. It would have been the worst if I didn’t get to the Sector 3 organization, where Robert (Robert Negoiţă – no. ), is also in Bucharest. You saw in the speech, I am not in the electoral campaign.”replied Ciolacu.

He also stated that he will enter the electoral campaign within the term stipulated by the law, adding that he will run on the PSD list for the parliamentary elections.

“75 days before, if… I’m going to run as a candidate, I must also be a parliamentarian, I think”stated Ciolacu.
