The 2024 Wimbledon final won in emphatic fashion by Carlos Alcaraz (Spain, 21, 3 ATP) over Novak Djokovic (Serbia, 37, 2 ATP) was “shaded” a bit of the Euro 2024 final, also played on Sunday, but after a few hours.

However, there was a common point between the two parties. Because Spain celebrated, first, Alcaraz’s success in London, after which it enjoyed even more the football triumph, also with an English flavor, in front of the Albion representative. And the future sounds extraordinarily good for the Iberians. Because the national team prepared by Luis de la Fuente is based on a young generation, with Lamine Yamal (17 years old) at the forefront, while Carlos Alcaraz, only 21 years old, already has some incredible numbers.
One statistic says it all about what Alcaraz has achieved so far: Carlos reached four Grand Slam trophies (US Open 2022, Wimbledon 2023, French Open 2024 and Wimbledon 2024) faster than Federer, Nadal and Djokovic! The former was 23 when he reached the milestone at the 2004 US Open. Nadal accomplished the feat at 22 at the 2008 French Open. And finally, Djokovic was 24 when he triumphed in his fourth major at the US Open 2011.
And another indicator that shows us that we are dealing with an athlete for whom the sky is the limit: at 21 years and 70 days, Alcaraz became the youngest tennis player to do the French Open – Wimbledon double in the same year!
Asked where Alcaraz can end up with such numbers, the legendary Rafael Nadal gave a comprehensive answer, according to Eurosport: “My impression is that we are talking about a player who will be one of the best in history. Life can change quickly, that’s the truth. You never know what can happen in the future, but today, if I have to predict what will happen in his career, I predict amazing things“.
