Asked who, between Joe Biden and Donald Trump, is the best president for Romania, Traian Băsescu answered: “Definitely Biden. As much of a snob as I am, I don’t like that he’s taking it left instead of right, I don’t like that he’s confusing Zelenski, I wouldn’t want to see an America that says “America first” I’m not interested in you 9
(referring to Donald Trump’s statements – No.) . Then what does he do with the 11 nuclear aircraft carriers with which he keeps the world in check? Is he withdrawing them to San Francisco? Does it make them a museum? What does he do with them? What does he do with the marines he has spread all over the world on all the aircraft carriers? What does it do with nuclear bases around the world? Does he take them home?”, said former president Traian Băsescu to Digi24.
Traian Băsescu also spoke about the relationship he had with Joe Biden.
“We had an exceptional relationship, so his situation hurts me all the more, as far as I can tell you few have read it, not even great analysts have read the Strategic Partnership for the XXI Century between Romania and the United States. It is colossal in importance and is being implemented point by point: Deveselu, the base at Kogălniceanu, the air base at Turda, Ford, recently even Google came here, Oracle has two large research centers in Romania. So things happen as agreed. I worked on this partnership with Mr. Biden, I’m sure he was finalized, arranged, we worked on the big ideas, by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Bogdan Aurescu and the Secretary of State of the United States. But it is a document that opened the way to security for us”said Traian Băsescu.
The former president explained that “dman, you can’t confuse Zelensky with Putin. Can not. You can’t be next to the president of France with his wife and your wife and sit down at a ceremony where you didn’t have a seat. You can’t pass over things that are extremely serious, you have to go left, but you take it right. They run after you to lead you in the right direction. All these things can be, let’s say, passengers. But I want to know, as a man who with his country entered the free world, I want to know that the leader of the free world is a healthy one, who makes decisions properly, who when he says yes, it is after an analysis and not after a slip from reality. And I want to be proud of the leader of the free world”the former president believes.
A few hours later, after Biden’s announcement, Traian Băsescu said that the US president still has a move to make in order to create maximum conditions for vice president Kamala Harris in the dispute with Donald Trump, namely to withdraw from the position of president.
“Biden has one more move and now it remains to be seen whether he will carry it through, that is, to create maximum conditions for Kamala Harris in the dispute with Trump, namely to withdraw from the position of president, and for Kamala Harris to be in the dispute with Trump from the position of president of the United States“, Băsescu explained.
Joe Biden is withdrawing from the race for the White House
We remind you that President Joe Biden declared on Sunday that he is not seeking to be re-elected as President of the USA. The American leader made the announcement in a letter posted on his official Twitter/X account. Biden said he would speak to the nation later this week in more detail. “Although it was my intention to seek re-election, I believe it is in the best interest of my party and the country that I step down and focus solely on fulfilling my duties as president for the remainder of my term.”Biden wrote.
Later, in a new post, Joe Biden announced that he is endorsing Kamala Harris as his successor.
