A day before the opening festivities (tomorrow, 20.30, TVR, Eurosport and the Max platform), we had what the organizers presented as “Day -2“, alluding to the time remaining until the official start of the Olympic Games in Paris (July 26 – August 11).

Because, yesterday, as usual, football and rugby in 7 started on the road, with the first confrontations. On the list of the 32 sports that we will see until August 11, a spectacular premiere also appeared: breakdancing. About which we will present details in the lines below. Until then, however, it is worth mentioning a trend that will certainly manifest itself in the next period.
Every four years, on the occasion of the Olympic Games, Romanians rediscover a series of sports that they normally do not follow. But hold on tight, if any performance is to be achieved in yachting, triathlon or fencing, for example! Immediately, a bunch of individuals appear in the online environment who declare themselves to be fans / connoisseurs of the respective discipline “since small“. Of course, all in the rush after “Likes” actually the real “sports” at which we excel.
If the 2020 Olympics brought us three new sports, namely climbing, skateboarding and surfing, in Paris we will also have a first on the event’s list of events. We are talking about breakdancing or breaking, as is the official name. Here, 16 boys and 16 girls will compete for medals. In breakdancing, the music chosen by the athlete, the originality of the designed program, the technique and the execution are scored.
There are also three sports that left the Olympic Games after the 2020 edition, moved to 2021 due to the pandemic: baseball, softball and karate.
The test taken more than 14,000 kilometers from Paris!
When you say Olympic Games 2024, you naturally think of the capital of France, the host of the show. Well, there is also a sport on the table for the event that will put the medals up for grabs more than 14,000 kilometers away from the City of Lights. We’re talking about surfing, the test in which the competitors will compete precisely in Teahupo’o, a village on the southeast coast of the island of Tahiti in French Polynesia! The choice is due to the fact that Paris does not have the necessary environment for such a contest. It will be the first time in the history of the Olympic Games that an event will take place at such a great distance from the host city.
