Vacation is a reason to relax and have fun, but it happens that sometimes it is ruined. Small details are extremely important, and the president of InfoCons, Sorin Mierlea, revealed what we should pay attention to when choosing accommodation.

“If we still decided and went on vacation and end up in a resort, or in a mountain town, it is very important to understand that the accommodation units are divided into two.
Once those agritourism guesthouses, which have one to five daisies, and the tourist accommodation units, with one to five stars. It would be good if we check that accommodation before we arrive. How many stars or daisies it has, when it was authorized and what it was authorized for.
Because if it is authorized only for accommodation, without food, but they put on the website that we also have food, we have to ask ourselves a big question mark that that service being unapproved, unauthorized, we might find ourselves getting sick or who knows what chain of traceability, where that food comes from. And we can simply check, in the European InfoCons app, we enter the accommodation unit or the travel agency and it tells us when it was authorized, why it was authorized and if its license was withdrawn in the meantime, we clearly give up”, said Sorin Mierlea, the president of InfoCons, during the “iThink” show from Antena 3 CNN.
Sorin Mierlea also revealed what you should check when you arrive at the hotel.
“If we arrived at the hotel, we have to check, first of all, if the unit in question does not have several building bodies, or several different floors, where the different floors or different building bodies are authorized separately. One four star, and one two star. Because it is possible to pay four stars and be accommodated at two stars. And here is a problem of understanding each of us what rights we have.
We need to understand what four stars and two stars mean, and here I would like to make a mention, even if we are discussing a holiday in Romania, four stars in Romania are not equal to four stars in Hungary or in France. Each state comes with some compliance on this.
After checking into that unit we realize we have a fridge with a mini bar inside. That we have a coffee in the room, or I know what miracles, we must have all the relevant information in Romanian. It’s like going to a supermarket, we have to find the same thing there“, said the leader of InfoCons.
“You can drink without paying”
Also, the president of InfoCons that accommodation units that have a “small bar or a pastry shop” have the obligation to offer guests free water “from the public resource or from the sink”.
“Secondly, when we go down to breakfast, we must have all the information about the agri-food products we have there, just like in a restaurant, or like in a store, like this: the ingredients, additives, the amount of salt, sugar content, nutritional information and allergens. They are not, we are making a complaint. Why am I saying this? Because we might find there, for example, a 0-sugar fizzy drink that has a lot of salt, maybe not a lot of people know that, to the point that maybe three slices of parisier might have more sugar than a carbonated drink. Things we don’t even think could exist.
The water from the toilet, from the sanitary group, from the sink, must be written whether it is potable or not. And if you ask, they must provide you with information about the potability of the water and the fact that they have at least performed a water potability analysis in the last 30 days.
Any accommodation unit that has a small bar or a pastry shop, starting this year, has the obligation to provide you with free water from the public resource or from the sink, so you can drink it without paying“, added Sorin Mierlea.
