Bucharest is, along with Cluj, the most expensive city in Romania, and people put their hands deep in their pockets if they want to eat at a restaurant. However, there is a restaurant where a steak costs less than 15 lei, and for 26 lei you can eat two substantial portions.

However, there are exceptions which, it is true, only reinforce the rule. Such an example is given by a young man who discovered a place in Bucharest where you can eat cheaply and heartily, and the dishes are very well cooked. According to Ziare.com, the young man paid in the end what he would have paid for a pack of cigarettes. He posted a clip on TikTo in which he says that he chose the Agronomy Canteen of the University of Agronomic Sciences and Veterinary Medicine (USAMV) in Bucharest. In total, here he paid 26.25 lei for two dishes.
The menu included a Greek-style chicken soup with a lot of meat, for which he paid only 7.99 lei. For the second course, he opted for a tender and juicy pork roast in sauce. The preparation weighed 260 grams and cost 14.3 lei. Next to the steak, he chose as a side dish a healthy portion of rice with vegetables, which cost only 3.17 lei, and in addition he gave 0.79 lei for a bun. The pickle salad he got was practically free.
A hearty meal
“Today I had a super good meal at the Agronomy Canteen. I started with a wonderful Greek chicken soup, soup that had chunky chunks of chicken, some vegetables thrown in and, bonus, greens on top.(…) It was really good. For the next course I chose this big piece of pork, cooked in the oven, with that red sauce and, of course, greens on top”he began his description.
He liked the pork very much, and in the end he concluded that the food in the canteen seemed filling and tasty.
“The meat surprised me, it was really tender, even though it was cooked in a thick piece. Next to that pork with sauce I also got this rice with vegetables, which I slapped there on top of the sauce.(…) I also had some pickled cucumbers, so that everything would slide as well as possible. Conclusion: I found the food at the Agronomy Canteen tasty and filling. Quantitatively, for me, it was more than enough,” said the man in the clip posted on TikTok“, said the young man.
The most expensive restaurant is in Cluj
In Romania, however, there are also places where food is more expensive than anywhere else, and certain dishes cost record prices. This is the case of a restaurant in Cluj where the record for the most expensive burger was broken. This is how the most expensive burger in the world costs 6,200 euros and was launched last summer, in a restaurant in Cluj, on the occasion of the Untold festival. The first burger was given to a young woman from Cluj, who was admitted last year to the prestigious Sorbonne University in Paris.
In the same restaurant in Cluj, the menu included other dishes at incredible prices. Also last year, a customer asked for beef with gold leaf for his dog at the price of “only” 6,000 lei.
