The Saint Mary’s holiday came as a godsend for hoteliers on the Romanian coast, who take advantage of the influx of tourists and ended up asking for a night’s accommodation at higher prices than in Greece, for example.

Thus, in Eforie, a modest, not fancy resort, like Mamaia, a night at a four-star hotel costs between 300 and 500 euros, according to PROTV. In such a hotel, which is 95% occupied, those who made reservations in advance pay about 300 euros per day, while tourists who are only now arriving at the resort have to take out the incredible amount from their pockets of 520 euros.
“Those who did not get the offer have higher rates. Without half board, the standard room costs 300 euros, the upgraded rooms cost more than 500 euros, we are talking about apartments, luxury rooms. They are not very many, they are 10% of the hotel’s capacity. Being in high demand, the price is automatically optimized“, explained Iuliana Țasie, the hotel representative.
As for the tourists, they say that they paid from 1,200 euros for 5 nights, up to 4,000 lei for 3 nights.
“I paid about 4,000 lei, quite a lot for 3 nights”, one tourist told PROTV, while another said “1,200 euros for 5 nights. Everything seems a bit expensive to me”.
Although we are talking about hallucinatory prices, Ștefan Necula, representative of a travel agency, says that there are already many hotels that do not have rooms available for the next period.
“When the demand is very high, the prices also increase and then, indeed, the prices for this period, for those who want to reserve the last hundred meters, are very high”, Răzvan Dobre, representative of a hotel on the Romanian coast, explains the situation.
For their part, restaurant chefs and food service providers enjoy the influx of tourists from this mini-holiday.
“For tomorrow, at 19:00, only a table of 2 people possible, maximum 2, at this time”, says Cristi Andrei, restaurant manager.
On Saint Mary’s day, on Thursday morning, on the waterfront of the Casino in Constanța, the festivities dedicated to the Day of the Romanian Navy begin, for which more than 100,000 tourists are expected.
Mountain prices
And in the mountains, in Brasov county, for example, in Fundata, it is very difficult to find accommodation, given that most hotels and guesthouses are full and reservations have been made since three years ago, PROTV reports.
Thus, at a hotel in the area, a 3-night package costs almost 1500 lei per person, including breakfast and dinner and other services.
“Access to the resort’s SPA, a tasting organized with a professional sommelier, an entertainer who comes for the little ones. There will be a campfire and a country dinner, with piglet stew, with cauldrons,” explained George Perpelea, the hotel’s representative.
These days, more than 1,000 people are expected in the area at the biggest festival dedicated to campers and nature lovers, organized in Râșnov.
