Crin Antonescu recommends replacing Ciucă in the presidential elections. “The great danger that lurks in the PNL is that of ridicule”

In an interview with Digi24, Crin Antonescu harshly attacked the current leadership of the party. The former president of PNL criticized the party’s presidential campaign, centered on Nicolae Ciucă’s book, suggesting that another successful candidate can be found.

“I watched what happened to the party recently. (…) I appealed to patience. I defended the hopes regarding the evolution of the party (…). I have to say that the situation seems borderline to me. I had this feeling during the European parliamentary elections, when the PNL tactically succeeded in one thing, to mask its political score by merging the local elections with the European parliamentary elections, the joint list with the PSD. But in a month-long campaign he has told us absolutely nothing of substance about what he is going to do or not do in the EP“, declared Antonescu.

The reason why the former party chairman believes that “the situation is at the limit at the moment” it has to do with the fact that “then a score was masked”:

“We live, at the level of the PNL leadership, in a form of mediocrity and even imposture, including that of the presidential candidate (…). We still have a candidate for the presidency and he doesn’t tell us anything anymore, although he is a decent man, I’m talking about Ciucă, he was not officially decided by the party at a certain moment, weighing some things, possibly other possible candidacies”, Crin Antonescu also said to Digi24.

“The ridiculousness also comes from this campaign with the book”

Regarding how Nicolae Ciucă was chosen to run for the presidency, the former PNL leader said that “itthere is a group of 3-4 people – Mr. Rareș Bogdan, Mr. Motreanu, Mr. Lucian Bode, who make decisions together with Mr. Ciucă. I do not censor their right to make decisions. I speak as a voter of the results of these decisions“.

“The great danger that lurks in the PNL is that of ridicule, as a main communicator, a “frontman” like Rareș Bogdan even practices forms of charlatanism in public communication. (…) The ridiculousness also comes from this campaign with the book. Only some semi-docs could think of a campaign centered on the literary performances of Mr. Ciucă“, Crin Antonescu also claims.

Alternatives to Ciucă’s candidacy: Ilie Bolojan and Eduard Hellvig

The former PNL leader also says that the party must decide “if she resigns herself to the role of mother-carrier of Mr. Iohannis’ political progeny, a task with little chance of being completed, or seeks and asserts her post-presidential identityah”.

Regarding a possible replacement for Ciucă in the candidacy for the presidency of Romania, Antonescu stated that the PNL has at least two candidates “which can be seen from a distance”: Ilie Bolojan and Eduard Hellvig.
