Between July 2023 and June 2024, more than 300 million boxes of medicines intended for the treatment of heart and stomach diseases were released in pharmacies and hospitals, according to data provided by the Cegedim company.

In total, Romanians purchased over 700 million boxes of medicines in the last 12 months, almost half of which were intended for heart or stomach treatments, according to market research carried out by Cegedim, reports Observator News.
These two categories of conditions represent half of the total volume of drugs distributed annually to patients, both in hospitals and in pharmacies.
Medicines for heart and digestive ailments are part of the affordable category, with an average cost of 20-40 lei per box.
Thus, although they are among the most purchased by Romanian patients, these drugs only contribute a third to the total value of drug sales in the analyzed period.
In the last 12 months, the drug market reached a value of almost 32 billion lei, registering a 15% increase compared to the same period of the previous year.
