Video Misunderstandings in the Government on the subject of military pensions. The meeting of the Executive is postponed SOURCES

The non-taxation of military pensions under 3,000 lei created misunderstandings in the Government, the meeting in which this topic should have been discussed was postponed because not all the opinions were obtained.

The Government meeting in which the non-taxation of military pensions was to be discussed was postponed

The Government meeting in which it was supposed to discuss the non-taxation of military pensions amounting to 3,000 lei is being postponed, as all the necessary approvals were not obtained, political sources told “Adevărul”.

Previously, Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu had announced that the Government would issue an ordinance in this regard.

In the coalition, we decided that the part with the tax exemption up to 3,000 lei should be done through the Parliament. After it passed through the Parliament and was promulgated by the President of Romania, I found that the military and the police were not included in that law. That’s why today I’m going to issue an ordinance, as is correct, to arrest the military and the police, because neither the military nor the police have special pensions. They have occupational pensions“, Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu declared on Wednesday.

“We have a past of 50 years of communism. There were many things wrong, many things that were not in a sustainable, capitalist system of work. And at this moment we are really trying, after 30 years, we are trying to repair them”, explained Ciolacu.

He was asked about the project submitted by the PNL in the Parliament, which seeks to amend the pension law.

“I think we need responsibility. I also had a meeting with the disabled and I will also have a meeting with the miners on Friday. I think we need a serious discussion, we need to overcome the emotional moment of the elections and understand once and for all that with such attitudes we will not win any votes. On the contrary. You, the media representatives, will show those images and those attitudes, we will all laugh because we feel that they are not serious and are firefighting, taking into account the elections and nobody will win. I told you that such attitudes, regardless of what you, when you were in government in the famous right-wing coalition, led by Mr. Cîţu, we demanded in the Parliament to see that PNRR and what milestones you passed and what indicators which we also had to respect in the pension law. To come now with such an attitude seems frivolous, but if they want this, I have no problem“, stated Ciolacu.

The pensions caused a new scandal in the coalition on Tuesday

The military could also benefit from the increase in the monthly ceiling of non-taxable pensions, from 2,000 lei to 3,000 lei, after PNL leader Nicolae Ciucă requested the Minister of Finance, Marcel Boloş, to include them among those to whom the law recently adopted by Parliament, already promulgated by President Klaus Iohannis and valid from October 1.

The spokesperson of the PSD, Lucian Romaşcanu, stated on Tuesday that the liberals “they react to the embarrassing political scores they are credited with” and “they ended up inventing measures that, in reality, PNL opposed in Parliament“, referring to the increase in the tax threshold for military pensions to 3,000 lei.

The announcement regarding the taxation of military pensions was made by the liberal Florin Roman, who also stated that the PNL parliamentarians submitted on Tuesday the draft law to correct the mistakes of the PSD in the pension law, which basically froze the pensions of miners, steel workers, steel workers, those with work groups, of people with disabilities, a category of pensioners abandoned by PSD.
