Nicușor Dan signed, at the PNL National Council, for the registration of Nicolae Ciucă for the 2024 Presidential Elections, after he made the same gesture, a few days ago, for the USR candidate. The mayor also explained how he will support and vote in the 2024 Presidential Elections.

The mayor of Bucharest, Nicușor Dan, participated on Sunday, September 15, in the event where the liberals formalized the nomination of Nicolae Ciucă for the 2024 Presidential Elections. Moreover, when asked to sign for Nicolae Ciucă’s candidacy, Nicușor Dan accepted the invitation right on the scene of the National Council. He showed the same support for entering the race, a few days ago, for the candidate of the party he founded, Elena Lasconi being the one who announced that she had Nicușor Dan’s signature.
The mayor explained to the journalists present at the liberal congress that the PNL is “a party with which I collaborated in the General Council”, “a party with which I want to continue collaborating in the General Council”. Nicușor Dan added that he is a right-wing man and that he came to an event of a right-wing party, also stating that he wants a right-wing government in Romania.
“I had the opportunity to meet Mr. President Ciucă in several administrative matters and Mr. Ciucă has a quality: when he has a problem, he tries to solve it and does not think – What would the press say about what I am doing now -. I hope we continue to collaborate, I hope we meet after the elections and govern Bucharest and Romania together”, Nicusor Dan said.
The Mayor General avoided answering whether he will actually support Nicolae Ciucă in the Presidential Elections, stating that he came “for now”
at the National Council, as HotNews writes.
“As I said on the night of the elections (no – local) and as I reiterated afterwards, in the weeks immediately following I will come out with a number of things that I want from presidential candidates and from the parties that will be in Parliament. And my possible support in the first round is decided depending on how the parties respond to what they want”Nicușor Dan also said, according to the cited source.
Nicușor Dan also avoided the definite answer regarding his option, in the race for Cotroceni, between Ciucă and Lasconi, reaffirming that he is “a man of the right”.
The Mayor of Bucharest specified that the most important answers he expects from the candidates are related to the issue of the distribution of money between the Bucharest City Hall and the sector mayors, respectively the decision-making power in the case of building permits in the Capital.
In the last local elections, Nicușor Dan, an independent candidate, was supported by the United Right Alliance (USR, PMP and Forţa Dreptei), and when he won his first mandate, four years ago, he also enjoyed the support of the liberals.
