George Baldock, a footballer who played for Sheffield United and now played for Panathinaikos Athens, was found dead in the pool of the villa where he lived, at only 31 years old. The Greek international was found breathless by the landlord who had rented his house on Wednesday night, at least five hours after his death.

The authorities are conducting an extensive investigation at the scene, and in the first phase, scenarios such as suicide, death caused by a heart attack or lung attack, or even murder were considered. According to a part of the media in Greece, coroners determined the cause of death as drowning. But it is still unknown what led to this, with the only clue that has been released being that a half-drunken bottle of vodka was found near the pool.
On the other hand, other international newspapers claim that the drowning hypothesis is excluded, as no water was found in the footballer’s lungs. The elements obtained so far indicate rather a cardio-respiratory arrest, but even this variant cannot be more than a guess at the moment, given that the results of all the necessary tests are pending. So the mystery still hangs over the death of George Baldock, especially since the authorities suspect that a person was in the courtyard of the villa shortly before the footballer lost his life.
