Geoff Payne, father of former One Direction member Liam Payne, arrived outside the hotel where the singer was found dead after falling from a third floor hotel room balcony in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

Payne initially visited the town mortuary to formally identify his son’s body, before going to the prosecutor’s office to arrange for Liam’s remains to be returned to England.

Geoff Payne was later photographed in a navy suit leaving the Casa Sur hotel in Buenos Aires, where the British star fell on Wednesday, September 16.

Geoff Payne read letters and messages left by fans and stopped by flowers, photographs and candles placed around a tree near the hotel. He also thanked fans for their tributes.

Upon his arrival, fans created a wall with their bodies to prevent the paparazzi from getting too close to him.

Liam died aged 31 in Buenos Aires, Argentina after falling from a hotel balcony.

The One Direction singer died on October 16 at the age of 31 after falling from the balcony of a hotel room in Argentina.

“Liam will live forever in our hearts and we will remember him for his kind, funny and brave soul,” they sent the artist’s family.

Liam was born on August 29, 1993, in Wolverhampton, England, the youngest of three siblings, including his sisters Nicola and Ruth.

Liam Payne was, along with Louis Tomlinson, Niall Horan, Zayn Malik and Harry Styles, one of the members of the pop group One Direction formed in 2010 and which enjoyed a stunning success.

The band rose to fame after coming third on the 2010 UK music competition show ‘The X Factor’, but the group broke up in 2016 with its members pursuing different projects, including solo careers.
