FRF, radical decision in the case of Nordis Group: the official announcement clarified things definitively

The scandal with Nordis Group also had consequences in our football. Because we are talking about a real estate developer with strong ties to the king of sports.

The Romanian Football Federation announced, on Tuesday, in a press release published on its official website, the termination of the partnership with Nordis Grup, sponsor of the Central Referee Commission (CCA), as a result of the real estate fraud allegations they are facing in recent weeks the company.

The management of the FRF mentions that it will look for another sponsor to support the activity of the Central Commission of Referees.

Investing in the training of referees is an essential element for ensuring quality refereeing in national and international competitions. In this sense, the FRF is committed to finding a new strategic partner that will contribute to the continuous improvement of the training level of Romanian referees. The new partner of the CCA will be announced in the next period, after the completion of the ongoing discussions“, states the FRF.

Nordis Group, a real estate developer specializing in the development of luxury hotel and residential complexes, has been the main sponsor of the CCA since the end of 2020, with the referees in the first three echelons wearing the company’s name on their shirts during matches, as well as on their other equipment. From April 2021, Nordis signed another contract with the FRF, becoming a sponsor of the Romanian Under 19 and Under 20 teams, and from May 2022 of the Under 21 national team.

The Nordis Group company has been in the middle of a real estate fraud scandal for several weeks following the journalistic investigation carried out by the Recorder. The real estate developer is accused of collecting money in advance from several people for the construction of hundreds of apartments that he did not complete.

The Bucharest Court already has a file regarding the opening of the insolvency procedure of Nordis Management SRL. Currently, the procedure is in the stage of the first measures of the observation period, namely that of notifying all creditors, drawing up the preliminary table of creditors, inventorying and evaluating the company’s assets.

Following the scandal, several politicians announced that they will submit a draft law called “Nordis” to Parliament, whereby real estate developers will not be able to ask a buyer for an advance of more than 10-15% of the apartment’s value.
