Dinamo, the most profitable defeat in Romania: the amount won in the derby with FCSB is impressive

Lying hunt” is a term invented by Marius Șumudică (53 years old) to describe the drive of a player with a poor physical condition who, however, “lives” out of enthusiasm for a while. At the present time, Dinamo’s course in the championship can be described in the same way!

Escaped from relegation, alas, the team from “Ștefan cel Mare” started the new season with enthusiasm, exceeding all expectations: 12 points in the first seven stages, a record with which the red-whites reached 3rd place, after Cluj University and Craiova University. Now, after another six matches, the Transylvanian and the Olteni are still there, occupying the first two positions, but Dinamo has dropped to 7th, play-out place. Which denotes the downfall of the team. Also confirmed by the numbers: in the last six rounds, “dogs” they have one win with the last ranked Unirea Slobozia, three draws and two defeats. And Sunday’s derby with FCSB was lost at the end of a bleak match. In which the students of Zeljko Kopić (47 years old) sent the first shot into the goal area, in the 90th+5th minute!

In this alarming landscape, which reminds of the red-white football dramas of the last seasons, the only consolation is a financial one. Because the lost game with FCSB was a profitable defeat, as explained by Dan Gătăianțu, one of the group’s shareholders. In dialogue with “Fanatik”, he provided the financial balance of the derby.

I think it is very important for Dinamo supporters to understand what a match at the National Arena means from the point of view of the financial result. Basically, we are talking about a stadium that was almost sold-out with FCSB. We, as income, managed to earn 500,000 euros. At the same time, we have payments or expenses worth 200,000 euros. So, the club recorded a profit of 300,000 euros after this match“, said Dan Gătăianțu.

After the weekend game, in the championship, with Hermannstadt, away (Saturday, 19.00), another derby follows for Dinamo. Also with FCSB at the National Arena (Wednesday, October 30, 9 p.m.). This time, the two rivals will meet in the first stage of the Romanian Cup, the group stage.

I hope that Dinamo supporters will be present in as large a number as possible, even if we lost this championship match, and that there will be 25,000 fans in the stands. That’s what I want to aim for. It’s a challenge I want to address to the fans. It would be a success to prove that we can be present in numbers at the stadium and on a Wednesday, at a late hour. Dinamo fans are not supporters of the result“, continued the shareholder Dan Gătăianțu for “Fanatik”.

How can the next match with FCSB at the National Arena be profitable for the club? Dan Gătăianțu explained: “At least 13,000 spectators must come to the stadium. From this figure upwards we are in profit“.

The contribution of the fans to the financial situation of the club is all the more important since, including last season, Dinamo was “in the red”. “Last season we had revenues of 4.2 million euros, this with expenses of 7-7.5 million euros, so we had a deficit of a little over 3 million euros”, admitted Dan Gătăianțu.
