Paramount Pictures and Skydance have released a new trailer for their upcoming film, “Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning.” Cruise revealed the title and a poster on Monday morning, along with the description “Every choice led to this“.
The official title of the movie that will be released on May 23, 2025 is “The Final Reckoning”. The film was originally supposed to be a follow-up to the seventh installment, “Dead Reckoning,” and was supposed to be released in 2022. The delay was caused by the pandemic and the SAG-AFTRA actors’ strike, the largest union in Hollywood. They went on strike in July 2023, where they demanded an increase in basic and residual income from streaming, as well as restrictions on the use of artificial intelligence (AI) in the entertainment industry.
Esai Morales returns for the upcoming film, alongside Simon Pegg, Ving Rhames, Hayley Atwell, Vanessa Kirby, Pom Klementieff, Shea Whigham, Henry Czerny, Greg Tarzan Davis, Mariela Garriga and Indira Varma. Newcomers to the franchise include Hannah Waddingham, Janet McTeer, Holt McCallany, Katy O’Brian, Nick Offerman and Tramell Tillman.
As in the previous film, Ethan Hunt, the character played by Tom Cruise, battles an Artificial Intelligence program called “The Entity“
