The General Mayor of the Capital, Nicuşor Dan, spoke, on Tuesday evening, about the reasons that led him to take the decision to run for the highest position in the state, about the people with whom he discussed the candidacy, but also about the risks that this decision involves them for him.

In this context, Nicuşor Dan argued that “he sees no risks” regarding his image, “as long as it’s an honest decision” in which he conveys to the people that he can also help from a position other than the one in which he was re-elected in the election in the summer of this year.
“I don’t see risks, because it’s not about what risk, of my personal image, as long as it’s an honest decision in which I convey to people that I can help in a position other than the one in which they chose me, I don’t think that there is a suspicion in my person that I would do this to gain who knows what benefit”. said Nicuşor Dan, on Tuesday evening, at Dig 24.
The Mayor of the Capital was asked with whom he discussed his decision to run for the Presidency, and in this context he explained that he had discussions with the few people he has been with for a long time, writes news.ro.
“There are people I have been working with for… some for 2-3 years, some for 5-6 years, with whom I did the campaign 8 years ago, as a result of which the USB and later the USR were born. There are 10 close people I consult with. I made the decision, after testing each of them, I asked many questions to each of them and also in the group”Nicusor Dan testified.
He also revealed that the questions coming from the public space regarding his possible candidacy hastened his decision.
“Probably, if I hadn’t been asked since the evening of December 6, when the elections were canceled, this decision would probably have taken a few more days. But because the question was asked to me and because there were also people who said my name as a variant, I owed an answer and that sped up the analysis. I think that something fundamentally changed in Romania after November 24, that compared to the previous elections in which people came and said “we have a little hope or we have no hope, but we are voting for the lesser evil”, now it was a very , very clearly that something fundamental had to change in Romania, beyond the person of Mr. Georgescu. This was the message of the people: “it can’t be done anymore”. And then I think that in relation to this message, each of us, including the parties that are starting to behave differently these days, each of us made his own analysis of this moment that Romania is experiencing and asked himself the question of what he can do contribute to this. And as a result of the analysis that I did, a profile of the president was also obtained and the conclusion that I have some attributes that qualify me for this position. And we did a very quick survey just to measure a level of confidence and to measure some trends and expectations of the people. The survey told me that there is on the one hand a level of trust for my person and on the other hand that there is a level of waiting for the attributes that I have”, added the mayor.
Asked about the reaction of USR, a formation that did not announce its support for him, Nicusor Dan answered: “There is nothing abnormal. That is, there are negotiations that are legitimate, that are overlapped for the formation of the Government, for presidential elections. The USR has the advantage, in these negotiations, of having the candidate from the second round and it is a way, in my opinion, to play this advantage in the negotiations taking place”.
