A new private university will be established in Timisoara. What faculties will it consist of?

A new private university is being established in Timișoara, the Chamber of Deputies decided, which adopted the project with 259 votes “for” and one abstention.

The “Ioan Slavici” Foundation for Culture and Education – “Ioan Slavici” University from Timișoara becomes a private higher education institution with legal personality, decided the Chamber of Deputies, decision-making body.

The “Ioan Slavici” University will have two faculties: the Faculty of Economic Sciences, with the bachelor’s degree programs – finance and banking, accounting and management informatics, and the Faculty of Engineering, with the bachelor’s degree program in information technology. The structure of the university will include other organizational components whose programs and fields of study are accredited or provisionally authorized, as the case may be, by decision of the Government or order of the Minister of Education, according to the law.

“Ioan Slavici” University will operate with its own revenues

The teaching and non-teaching staff from the “loan Slavici” Foundation for Culture and Education – the “loan Slavici” University in Timişoara, which was authorized to operate provisionally, will be taken over, in accordance with the law, by the newly established institution, starting from the date of entry in force of this law.

The “loan Slavici” University in Timisoara will have its own patrimony consisting of the patrimony established by the founders, to which is added the patrimony that the higher education institution will acquire later. It is composed of movable and immovable goods, receivables and includes all rights and liabilities that can be valued in money. In case of dissolution, dissolution or liquidation, the patrimony of the “loan Slavici” University in Timisoara belongs to the founders. The expenses related to the operation of the “loan Slavici” University in Timişoara will be provided from the own revenues acquired under the law, as well as from other sources in accordance with the legal provisions.
