The Lupii lui Calancea band from the Republic of Moldova drew attention to the fact that Aurei Şova, the winner of the Vocea României contest, used the band’s song “Alas, the poor turtledove“, but without indicating the origin, informs newsmaker.md.
“We are happy that Vocea României is inspired by the art of the Wolves and that the moment that won the final was based on a piece designed by us. However, we believe that respect for the creation and the recognition of the artistic vision are essential, especially when it comes to a piece with a deep story like “Alas, the poor turtledove”.
This piece was conceived as a tribute to Maria Drăgan, one of the greatest voices of Moldovan folklore, and our vision of her reflects her destiny and the beauty of the art she left us“, it is stated in a publication on the Facebook page of the Lupii lui Calancea band.
The grand finale of Vocea României 2024 took place on Friday. The winner of the renowned musical contest is Ana Şova, from Tudor Chirilă’s team, who performed in the final Maria Drăgan’s song “Vai, sarmana turturică”, in a re-adapted version, together with the actor Marius Manola.
