Late last week, on December 21, 2024, the world’s largest ice theme park was officially inaugurated, marking the 26th edition of the Harbin Ice and Snow World. Located in the capital of Heilongjiang Province in northeastern China, this annual event offers a veritable spectacle of grandiose ice and snow sculptures, attracting thousands of visitors from around the world.
This season’s theme park, with the theme “Winter’s Dream, Love in Asia”impresses with its colossal dimensions, being built from 300,000 cubic meters of ice and snow. In an absolute first, its structures are inspired by the upcoming Asian Winter Games in Harbin 2025. With a total area of one million square meters, the park far exceeds last year’s size of 800,000 square meters, becoming the largest in the history of its 26 editions.

Toboggan with 24 slopes, impressive ice structures and breathtaking views
The park is divided into nine main areas, each recreating iconic landscapes from 42 countries and three member regions of the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) through impressive ice and snow structures that come to life under the night light.
In the center of this frozen land rises the main tower, marked by giant ice columns, symbolizing the official emblem of the OCA.
The most loved attraction, the Super Ice Slide, has increased its number of slopes to 24, and for the comfort of visitors, the waiting area includes a heated, windproof house, 300 meters long, which provides a pleasant break from the cold in winter while visitors have the opportunity to enjoy spectacular views of the park’s landscape.
Virtual reality, immersive digital art museum, fantastic shows
In addition to the impressive ice and snow landscapes, the park also offers fantastic performances, virtual reality projects and an immersive digital art museum, bringing exciting new experiences to both Chinese visitors and tourists from around the world, including Romanians, who have the opportunity to visit this magnificent country for a year without the need for a visa.
One of the most popular events, “Snow Disco”which attracted thousands of tourists last year, will be resumed this year on “Dream Scene” from the park.
Admission price lower than any other top theme park in the world
Harbin’s Ice and Snow Kingdom offers an unforgettable experience in a spectacular theme park at a surprisingly affordable price. With an entrance ticket of only 328 yuan (about $45.6), this park is undoubtedly one of the cheapest in the world compared to other top amusement attractions.
For example, a one-day ticket to Disneyland Paris costs about 60-110 dollars, at Universal Studios in Orlando, the price of a ticket is about 110 dollars, and at the Amusement Park Europa Park, Germany – about 55 dollars.
By comparison, in the snow park in the United Arab Emirates – Ski Dubai – which covers only 4,500 square meters, the price of access is 55 dollars, although it is lower in scale than in China. At Ice Castles, another seasonal attraction, available at several locations in the US and Canada, admission fees range from $15 to $25 for adults and $10 to $20 for children, but here it’s just impressive ice sculptures.
And in Snowlandia, Poland’s Snow Land, home to the world’s largest snow maze, entry fees for all attractions are over $60.
Thus, the Harbin Ice and Snow World offers an unforgettable experience at a much more affordable price than most world-renowned amusement parks. In addition, they also offer discounted tickets and free entry for certain categories of visitors.
Next year, Harbin will host the Asian Winter Games
Harbin’s Ice and Snow World, an already famous theme park, continues to be one of China’s most iconic winter attractions. Last year, his popularity exploded on social media, becoming a true Internet sensation.
The park’s 25th edition attracted more than 2.7 million visitors, cementing its status as a top destination.
In 2025, Harbin will host the 9th Asian Winter Games, a major international event marking China’s first major ice and snow competition since the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics.
Meanwhile, in Romania, the Bâlea Lac Ice Hotel has opened its doors for a new season. The project in the Făgăraş Mountains is also famous in the world.
