The mayor of the capital, Nicuşor Dan, declared on Sunday, about the candidacy announced for the presidential elections, that regardless of any other candidacy, he will run.

He specified that he will discuss at the beginning of January with the president of USR, Elena Lasconi, and she is a candidate for the elections for the head of state.
Nicusor Dan was asked if he will run even if USR decides to go all the way with Elena Lasconi in the presidential elections.
“Yes. Regardless of any other candidacy, I am running. I said I’m doing this, I’m a serious man, I’m going to do it”said Nicuşor Dan on Antena 3.
Nicusor Dan specified that it is “a one-person competition, because, unlike parliamentary elections, presidential elections are one-person elections, and in this type of election, people look at the person much more than they look at the parties they sympathize with.”
The General Mayor showed that Elena Lasconi, USR president and candidate for the presidency, called him on his birthday to send her wishes and they agreed to meet at the beginning of January.
“Ms. Lasconi called me, congratulated me on my birthday. I called her back, we talked, we are going to see each other at the beginning of January”emphasized Nicuşor Dan.
Nicusor Dan also showed that he would like USR to support him.
“If it happens that they support me very well, if it happens that they do not support me, also very well, we are in a democracy”, he completed.
