“U” Cluj announced the transfer of Ștefan Lefter (20 years old), the starting goalkeeper from Corvinul Hunedoara, holder of the Romanian Football Cup, a few hours after extending the contracts of midfielders Dan Nistor (36 years old) and Gabriel Simion (26 year old).

This season in League 2, Lefter has started 15 times. He did not concede a goal in 5 matches, conceding 13 goals in the rest of the stages.

Born on November 18, 2004 in Iași, Ștefan Lefter started football in the youth groups of Rapid Bucharest. In the summer of 2020, he was loaned to Corvinul Hunedoara, to be transferred permanently by the Hunedoara three years later.
The 2023-2024 season was a dream for the University’s new goalkeeper and his team. He played in 13 games in the regular season of the second division, managing to keep four clean sheets. Also, in the play-offs, in six matches in which he was used, he conceded only four goals.
More than that, Ștefan Lefter was a key man in Corvinu’s adventure in the Romanian Cup. The young goalkeeper was a full-time player in six of the eight matches played by Hunedomen until winning the trophy, conceding only two goals until the final, in the decisively won matches against Jiul Petroșani (4-1, in the third round) and Voluntari (3-1 , in the semifinals).
