The general mayor of the capital, Nicusor Dan, claims that the former candidate for the position of president of Romania Călin Georgescu has a chance to win the trial at the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) regarding the annulment of the presidential elections.

“At the Bucharest Court of Appeal and the High Court they could not question the decision of the CCR and that’s why they had no chance, instead the ECHR can question the decision to annul the CCR. So with the data we have at the moment, on the grounds of the CCR, if no new data appears, he has a chance at the ECHR”said Nicusor Dan at DIGI 24.
According to the mayor, the CEDO can find that the CCR and, subsequently, the Electoral Bureau illegally canceled the elections in Romania.
Călin Georgescu appealed to the ECHR the decision of the Constitutional Court to cancel the presidential elections.
The lawyer who will represent him, Maria Vasii, known in Romania for having defended no less famous characters such as Cristian Cioacă, Liviu Dragnea or ÎPS Teodosie, announced that the file was submitted as early as December 16, simultaneously with the legal action in the country.
