School in the morning, Baccalaureate in the afternoon. The decision of the Ministry of Education blows up the program of high school students: “A riot”

The Ministry of Education sent the high schools that organize the Baccalaureate exam at the end of the month a series of recommendations to streamline and simplify the process as much as possible. In reality, however, it confuses him more, the director of the IlCaragiale National College from Bucharest told “Adevărul”.

On January 27, the winter baccalaureate begins. Archive

In the document sent by the Ministry of Education, there are a series of plans regarding the exam timetable, the modification of the timetable of the students taking the tests, as well as those in the lower classes. Specifically, officials say proficiency tests will take place after classes if students study in the morning or before class if they study in the afternoon.

Baccalaureate 2025. How the skills tests will be conducted. Specifications of the Ministry of Education

“Exams will be held starting at 1:00 p.m., after the completion of the school program for 12th grade students. In the situation where the school program of the 12th/13th grade students is planned in the afternoon, the skills assessment process for tests A, B and D is organized before the school program, starting at 9:00 a.m. it is shown in the informative note.

As for the organization of the foreign language exam, more precisely the listening comprehension test and the written test, it will be held on February 3 starting at 8.30 am. “The school program will start at 10.30. For educational units operating in two shifts, the school schedule of classes operating in the afternoon will be shifted accordingly. the document also specifies. Then, the next day, there is the oral test in a foreign language, which will start at 13.00. “In the situation where the school program of the students is planned in the afternoon, the competence assessment process for the oral test within the C test is organized before the school program, starting at 9.00”it is also shown in the informative note.

High school director: “We will shorten the hours, we will shorten the breaks”

“I said from the beginning that the winter exam will be very difficult to organize. Not impossible, but complicated. And it will be complicated especially for high schools where they study in two shifts. We, at Caragiale, are a happy case, because the students all study from the morning”, specified prof. Andreia Bodea, director of IL Caragiale. “We have determined how we will proceed. The Romanian language exam will start at 1:00 p.m. On this day, classes V-XI will have their lessons shortened to 45 minutes, and the breaks will no longer be 10 minutes, but 5 minutes. This, in such a way that at 1:00 p.m. only those who take the exam remain in the school. The problem is that these children will spend a lot of time in school, from morning to night. Because the skills tests end somewhere around 15.00 or even 16.00. And no one thought about this aspect“, continues the director.

Teacher: “On that day there will be a massive class rush”

The teacher admits that he does not expect from the students of the twelfth a very high attendance in classes that day. “Most likely, the children taking the exam will not come to class that day. I don’t even expect it to come. The problem is that they will be given absences. Now, it depends on how understanding the teachers are.” But, the teacher confesses, if the students receive absences, they can be motivated by the parents.

Prof. Andreia Bodea also said that the really complicated test will be the foreign language test. According to the note sent by the ministry, this test will start at 8.30 am and end two hours later.. Which is not the case at all. “The audio sample lasts 20 minutes. Then there is a 5 minute break. Then, the written test, of 120 minutes. If you add up these minutes, you get more than two hours,” explains the director. “Then, after the exam, the students will have to stay in that day’s classes. And, again, I don’t think they will stay.”

Another complicated situation is the situation of the students of the lower classes. “Let’s take as an example the day when everything will be given the foreign language test. I will need 10 teachers to replace the English teachers on the committees. And that they should be available to supervise the students of the lower classes, “widowed” by their teachers, who attend the Baccalaureate. But these teachers, who have their classes from 10.30 onwards, will have to be called to school two hours earlier. Without being paid. Then, the next day, there is the oral exam in the foreign language. When the specialized teachers will be the ones who will come in the morning and stay until late”.

In conclusion: a big riot that must, in one way or another, be managed by the school management. “This system is more catholic than the pope. This, so that the students from the twelfth grade do not miss their lessons. In other words, the student Vasilescu should not miss the music, sports or chemistry class that day”, says the teacher.

Professor Andreia Bodea hopes that next year the procedure will be simplified, things will be more organized and better set up.
