“We currently have 125 signatures from parliamentarians for the suspension of Klaus Iohannis. All our parliamentarians signed the POT initiative, together with 91 AUR parliamentarians, one USR parliamentarian and SOS parliamentarians. We are also waiting for the other parliamentarians who support democracy in Romania to sign alongside noi”, wrote, on Wednesday, on Facebook, the president of POT, Anamaria Gavrilă.

According to POT, the USR parliamentarian who signed for the suspension of Klaus Iohannis is Emanuel Ungureanu, and there were two signatures from SOS.

On Monday, Anamaria Gavrila launched the invitation to all parliamentarians to sign the proposal to suspend Klaus Iohannis from office.

The Romanian Constitution allows that, in the case of committing serious acts that violate the provisions of the Constitution, the President of Romania can be suspended from office by the Chamber of Deputies and the Senate, in a joint session, with the vote of the majority of deputies and senators, respectively 234, after consulting the Constitutional Court .

The proposal for suspension from office can be initiated by at least one third of the number of deputies and senators, which means that the signatures of 155 parliamentarians are needed.

We remind you that on Tuesday, the Alliance for the Union of Romanians (AUR) requested the convening of an extraordinary session of the Parliament between January 20 and 24, in order to start the procedure of suspending the president “illegitimate” Klaus Iohannis.

According to a press release of the party, the request was submitted on Tuesday to the Permanent Offices of the two Chambers of the Parliament by the representatives of the AUR parliamentary groups.
