Former president Traian Băsescu mocks the potential candidates for the presidential elections this spring and predicts a new failure of “the toxic alliance PSD – PNL”.

“A little joy in the weekend! The presidential elections, with the former USL leaders as candidates, are nothing more than a guarantee of a new failure of the eternal and toxic PSD-PNL alliance. If Marcel will come along with Crin and Victor Viorel on a scooter or with a pot of iron on his head, the children will find all their comic characters on tik-tok”Traian Băsescu wrote on Facebook on Saturday.
The former president alludes to the childish posts of the PSD leader on TikTok, where Marcel Ciolacu is struggling to gain popularity on the model Călin Georgescu, but also to the recent statements of Victor Ponta, who recently returned to the PSD, the current Dâmbovița deputy of the party, which Social Democratic sources say will be expelled from the party again if he announces a candidacy for the 2025 presidential election.

We remind you that, after the first round of the presidential elections (subsequently cancelled), Traian Băsescu said about Călin Georgescu’s candidacy that it had been prepared for a long time and that “this is a 100% product of the Romanian administrative system”.

The former president of Romania was actively involved in the electoral campaign for the presidential and parliamentary elections. He predicted that Elena Lasconi, whom he supported, would reach the second round.
Before the CRR’s decision to cancel the presidential election, he made a call to vote asking supporters to vote with Lasconi.
Later, Băsescu commented in a personal style on the situation in Romania following the unprecedented decision of the CCR:
“Until recently we were arguing about who to vote for. Now we have no one to vote for. For how long? We will see…”wrote Traian Băsescu on his Facebook page.
