The Minister of Defense, Angel Tîlvăr, said on Tuesday, in an interview given to Agerpres, that he estimates that in February the contract on the PATRIOT system will be signed, which replaces the one ceded by Romania to Ukraine.

“I want to welcome the fact that, at the end of this year, the American Government made the decision to approve the delivery to Romania of three PATRIOT systems, which were in the program. In addition to these three systems, regarding this system, which we donated, which is worth about 300 million… already, partners from three NATO member states have contributed financially, Romania will pay only the transport and probably VAT for this equipment. We expect the signature for this system to take place in February,” says the minister, according to Agerpres.
He believes that the system was approved quickly and the contract is to be signed. “Se falls within our estimates when we made the decision supported by Parliament to make this donation“.
Regarding the transfer of a PATRIOT system to Ukraine, Tîlvăr declared that “it was a country decision”.
