Burduja: “The people cast a vote of blame for Călin Georgescu. He is an impostor”. What does he say about the PNL campaign that would have favored him

The Minister of Energy, Sebastian Burduja, is of the opinion that the people cast a vote of blame for Călin Georgescu, as a result of the mistakes made by the politicians. “He’s a big impostor (Călin Georgescu -no), he wrote a green energy strategy in 2008 (…) What did we sell our country for (…) I think we’re living in a bad movie with Mr. Georgescu . We need these things, they are for Romanians”said Minister Sebastian Burduja regarding the statements of Călin Georgescu..

Asked if he had met a supporter of Călin Georgescu, the minister reported that several times and that every time he tells them to keep their eyes open. “It is obvious that he deviates (Călin Georgescu-nr), he also votes as a vote of blame for the system, for the mistakes we made, but we assumed (…) This is what everyone must do the parties”, Burduja also said.

Regarding the PNL online campaign that would have been hijacked in favor of Călin Georgescu, Burduja explained: “I know that Mr. Bolojan ordered an audit, by the way, of how the money was spent in the campaign at the National Liberal Party, and I believe that he will present these results within the party and take certain measures based on those results. Beyond that, if someone has broken the law, they must answer to the court.”

“And I am a follower of a very hard line, that Romania is facing an existential danger. Will we still be a democracy or not, will we still be in NATO and the European Union? Will we still be with the West and not the East? You have no room for compromises, for cowardice, for hiding behind our fingers. So those who broke the law and those who brought us within a few steps of a disaster must answer in exemplary fashion“, continued the minister.

About the use of the campaign, Burduja also stated that it is “it’s a big disappointment”.

“I think someone should have reported it. Those who did not notify themselves, that they are from the party or from outside the party, we will determine that after the audit that will be done, must answer. The things that happened perhaps also explain the lesson that even the National Liberal Party received in the elections. We must not allow it to happen again, and for that we need very clear procedures within the party. After all, there is also money from the public subsidy. So the parties in Romania are also financed by citizens, and mainly through contributions and people’s money. And then it is a very legitimate question: what happened to this money and who is responsible for what happened?“, Burduja also said.

According to Snoop, ANAF discovered that PNL paid for a campaign that massively promoted Călin Georgescu on TikTok. The employed company announced that it will file a criminal complaint for the competent authorities to investigate “campaign hijacking, botting and/or cloning”.

The interim head of the PNL, Ilie Bolojan, stated regarding the online campaign of the PNL, which promoted Călin Georgescu, that the party did not run a campaign to support another candidate. “The PNL, as a party, has never engaged in any kind of campaign to support another candidate or other things that are not in line with our values and our strategic direction”said Ilie Bolojan, questioned about the campaign.
