The Ministry of Health announced on Thursday the establishment of the state of epidemiological alert in Romania, to limit the spread of respiratory infections, including flu.

“Given the rapidly increasing evolution of influenza infections of the last three weeks, similar to that of the previous season, the state of epidemiological alert is introduced, to limit the spread of respiratory infections, including influenza”the Ministry of Health transmitted.
The decision was made after the accelerated increase in the number of cases of acute respiratory and flu infections, aiming to reduce the disease.
So far, 28 people, including a 3 -year -old, died because of the flu this cold season.
“In the week 20.01.2025 – 26.01.2025 (S 04/2025) were reported: 133,635 cases of respiratory infections (clinical influenza, IACRS and pneumonia), registering with 0.4% more cases compared to the same week of the previous season (133.057 ) and 6.5% more cases compared to the previous week (125,452) ””the National Institute of Public Health (Insp) said on Thursday.
The minister declares that prevention measures are imposed in the educational units, with the declaration of the epidemiological alert. Vaccination remains the most effective prevention measure, but the immunization rate in Romania is low. Of the approximately four million people in the risk groups, only 1.13 million benefited from free vaccination through the national program.
