A survey in the diaspora shows that what greatly distinguishes Georgescu’s voters from the other voters is the nostalgia after Ceausescu. But there is also an important resemblance – “we care about this country” and from here we must start again to understand each other again, says Dragoș Stanca.

The specialist in Digital Media Dragoș Stanca, former journalist, tech entrepreneur and focus investor in Digital Media and Web3, explains the connection between Tiktok, young people who prefer a dictatorship, functional illiteracy and voting intention for an anti-Western candidate.
41% of young people between the ages of 18 and 34 believe that a totalitarian regime would be better, according to a globsec study and the Friedrich Ebert Foundation (2024).
“Logic in context, the candidates who remind people – even physically, not only as” tonne of voice ” / protocronist rhetoric – of the authoritarian leaders of the past are an increasing recipe for success.“, Stanca says on Facebook, citing a poll conducted on 688 Romanians living in the diaspora.
“What greatly distinguishes Georgescu’s voters from the other voters?”
The survey and illustration were taken from Daniel Enescu, co-founder of Daedalus New Media Research. “Below a picture for 1,000 words. What distinguishes majorly on Georgescu’s voters by the other voters, especially by Lasconi’s? Nostalgia after Ceausescu! The data is from a digital frappe study conducted on the diaspora in Europe, but it would be surprised to be the same in Romania“, Writes Enescu on LinkedIn.
The rock values that “The graph has only the role of emphasizing the differences between two very different types of electorate, I personally do not think that the impasse output solutions are nominated there with first names.”
Daniel Enescu, the founder of New Media Research notes that many Romanians have such a selective memory that they remember only what they want to remember from the times of communism, that is: “Stability, equality, predictability (and maybe the glory of their youth). Most likely forgetting poverty, misery, lack of color and hope. The cold, the tails, the shortcomings, the empty shops, the hunger. Abuses, isolation, fear of saying what you think. The sleep of the nation gives birth to monsters. Amnesia feeds these monsters. “
The data in the picture below is based on a study Frapppe Digital with a sample of 688 adults in the diaspora, concentrated in the countries of Europe.
“In order to reach the diaspora, people from the Daedalus online panel in Romania have been selected to recommend relatives or close friends who work or have residence abroad. Only the people outside the country could complete the questionnaire ”said Enescu.

“Radical = vertical, legionary = which respects the law, anti-democratic = pro-contains”
Dragos Stanca is of the opinion that many Romanians misunderstand the words with which certain political leaders are characterized:
“But what do the data we sometimes risk to interpret wrongly? Every time a candidate is “accused” of being nostalgic, that he is throwing us in the past, of being anti-democratic, that he is political anti-pluralism, believing that this is confusing him … He is fixed: he is helped to grow . Colleagues and colleagues in the media or active in social media should understand, I think, this paradox. Words have a completely different meaning, depending on what we perceive each of us to be “good” and based on the education we have (or not).
In the alternative Romanian language, where the grammar is optional and the hyphemes are randomly, extremist means determined, radically = vertical, legionary = which respects the law, anti-democratic = pro-inquest, peace, discipline. In short, it’s good! ”
“The percentage of young people who prefer a dictatorship is almost perfectly overlapping with that of those affected by functional illiteracy”
Social networks and functional illiteracy lead to dangerous reasoning:
The “intellectual pandemia” assisted algorithmic and fully helped by “educated Romania” (not) led to alarming odds of functional illiteracy and thus offered the perfect land to accelerate the process by which, as they say in the people, we speak together, yes ‘We understand each other separately. “
Stanca makes finding “maybe hazarded”: “The percentage of young people who prefer a dictatorship is almost perfectly overlapping with that of those affected by functional illiteracy: about 40%. The proportion also overlaps with the intention to vote for an anti-Western candidate. Coincidence?”
Can we really condemn these people in a very rewarded voice?
“What to understand today a ordinary young man who had the misfortune to benefit from a precarious education, which is constantly exposed to Tiktokiste algorithmic manipulations for over 10 years and has no other landmark or model (that the company did not offer it. )? ”
Where does he know what that communism is or who was Ceausescu and what did he really do? What did the school or life experience learn that it is democracy and what is it good?-He contains with the questions.
“It will not be the system that enriched all the opportunists and features who, here, can only move with private Jets, who make protocol villas with millions of euros that they make, from PIX, At the end of the mandate, for life? What, does communism or whatever be so born? Who says? ” – Stanca continues to reason.
Then, the young people put Georgescu’s “uplifting” speech with that of the “smart TV”:
“Why can’t he be a leader who speaks” uplifting “, principle, sentimental and on the” soul “of the diaspora what is needed? What does it matter if I say the “smarts” on TV that it is a fiction or that he speaks nonsense? They kept telling us … and look where we are today! OK. Even if it is the way I tell us: why not believe in miracles? If God saw what was happening and decided to help us?! ”
“We need a new Romanian-Romanian dictionary”
The rock is of the opinion that the exposed scenario is not very far from the truth: “Do I exaggerate? Probably, but not necessarily. My sensation – accentuated after each scrolling session – is that a good part of my fellow citizens are already in the stage of cognitive dissonance. “
He believes we need a new Romanian-Romanian dictionary: “We need to understand each other again and, especially, each other. If we do not stop screaming and accused, enchanted by algorithms who feed daily for profit with the hatred generated by all possible fears, this story, as a society, has no way to be a happy end. “
The suggestion of the initiator Ethical Media Alliance (a non-profit initiative that advocates for the redirection of budgets from automated advertising to projects and journalistic startups that put in the public interest) is to start from what unites us: “We care about this country. We all want a life as well and safe here. We all want people who have measurable aspirations and in something other than euros, lei or rubles. The rest are details. ”
“In conclusion, with assumed naivety, I still hope to see more tact, more wisdom and, perhaps, a responsible public speech that will take into account all these shades” – the rock concludes.
