Traian Basescu: “We need an extremely powerful president”
The former president stressed that there are extremely fluid moments in foreign policy.
“We have three great nuclear powers, the United States, the Russian Federation and China, which all have desires of territorial extensions. We see that the War in Ukraine does not end in 24 hours (…). We need a Romania with a foreign policy and an extremely powerful president who knows what he wants ”said the former head of state.
Traian Basescu was also questioned in connection with a possible change of Ilie Bolojan, in the sense that he would apply, however, to the presidential elections.

The former head of state added that all those who are in opposition should support a single candidate “Whether it will be Bolojan, Nicușor Dan, Lasconi”, so that Romania has a pro-Western president and “Not a president to target the restoration in Romania, our return to the times of the 1950s-’60s ”.
