Invited to a show at the TCM Classic Film Festival, director Martin Scorsese shared the films that recently impressed him with the public, and after mentioning some Hollywood productions, Scorsese surprised the audience stating: “I really like Romanian films. ”
He had words of praise to Cristian Mungiu, Cristi Puiu, Corneliu Porumboiu and Radu Jude.
“It is still A guy called Radu Jude… it’s something. Especially “we have” which he made in black and white and one more, of which I am quite sure that it is not to the taste of everyone, “do not wait too long from the end of the world.” That’s a shocking something. It takes style, political content, cinema, morality, lack of morality, all on the screen and then break them in a thousand pieces and suddenly you see the world otherwise ”, said Scorsese, emphasizing the complexity and impact of these productions.
Radu Jude posted a message on his Facebook page, along with a filming with Scorsese’s interview, mentioning that the state director’s statements represent “A great honor.”
