Romania has the advantage of being a starting point on less expensive holidays in Europe, say some of the travelers. With minimum expenses, they say, they had the opportunity to visit extremely spectacular places.

Many Romanians think about the leaves of 2025 at the beginning of the year, but for some of them the holidays considered “exotic”, in which they estimate that they would spend thousands of euros, they were excluded, they report on social networks.
Some of them say that they do not allow them or if they have enough money for such things, I do not see their meaning, as long as, living in Romania, they have the advantage that they can visit Europe with only a few hundred euros of pocket.
Travel to Norway at a reduced price
A Romanian reported how he managed to cross Europe, to the northern coast of Norway, with only 1,000 euros.
“With 5,000 lei I went to Nordkapp, in Norway, with a personal car, 9,000 kilometers, of which about 3,500 lei cost diesel. I slept in the car (mostly, because it is finer to stop anywhere when you want to visit and do not worry that you get to the next sleeping place. I took my home food, but what I eat very little. With this money I have traveled for 12 days and I saw some of the most of it. Five percent of what I saw”, He says on the Reddit platform.
Often, holidays can be cheaper in the West than in Romania, says another Romanian, telling his personal experiences.

“You can go on holidays in Europe at affordable prices. For three nights in June, in Zadar (Croatia), the costs reach 180 euros, air tickets and accommodation, for two people. For four nights in Malta, in October, it cost us about 130 euros, accommodation and air tickets. I go to Vienna about two months, but I did not pay more than 70 euros for a return plane, except for the Christmas period. I found accommodation at decent prices. And in Crete I stayed for a week, autumn, paying the accommodation about 250 euros ”, Say another trips amateur.
For another Romanian, a week in skiing in the Caucas Mountains, in Georgia, it meant expenses of 1,500 euros, the price including air tickets, accommodation, food, leased ski equipment, ski installation costs, he says.
Some Romanians consider themselves too poor for holidays on the Romanian coast, so they prefer to plan their stays in Bulgaria and Greece.
“15 years ago, if you went to Greece, you were someone,” He remembers one of them.
“I saw an offer for a ten euro flight. We calculated that a weekend in Milan would have cost us less than one in Sinaia ”says another Romanian.
Public transport confuse the plans of Romanians
Many of the travelers say they have come to the conclusion that external trips have become more comfortable than if they had chosen Romania for holidays.
“I wanted to go to Oradea or Iasi, but I finally arrived in Brussels. The plane was 250 lei, and to Oradea or Iași it would have been 800 lei. The train consumes me too much time on vacation, and I don’t have a driver’s book ”, writes one of them.
Another Romanian noted the same thing, after planning to send his parents to a resort in Romania.
“I live in Brasov and I wanted to send my parents to the bathrooms, to Căciulata. I calculated that if they went by train and changed maxi-taxes, they would lose about 16 hours on the road. I tried in Băile Olănești, but they had to go to Bucharest and take the bus there, so instead of four hours, it would have done about eight hours on the road. In Sovata it is closer, but the accommodation for four nights costs about 3,000 lei. The easiest thing I thought to buy tickets to fly by plane from Brașov to Budapest, for about 200 lei ”he reported.
Other Romanians say that they have managed to solve the problem of accommodation in holidays, without too many headaches.
“In the last three years for us, the holiday has meant to tie the car caravan, to take the dogs with us and to explore all kinds of places in the country. Let us be only in a beautiful landscape, to eat what we eat at home, without pretensions, and the only bigger expense is the price of the fuel. For now, it is perfect. ”believes a Romanian.
