Vice-President of the National Health Insurance House (CNAS), Larisa Mezinu, warned of a new fraud, asking confidential information to medical service providers.

“On February 25, we were informed by the providers of medical services that they received emails asking for confidential information, including documents that would seem to be necessary for the National Health Insurance House in this context of non-functioning of the computer platform.
The e-mails did not come from the National House, they did not come from the health insurance houses, from the e-mail addresses with which the suppliers are accustomed and which are passed in the contract signed by the supplier. Therefore, there are some dedicated e-mail addresses that we correspond with the medical service providers and they know them. This was auspicious. They immediately noticed us”, Replied CNAS Vice President, according to News.ro.
She also stated that the attackers took advantage of the period in which CNAS did not work, and assured that the notification was then sent to the National Cyber Security Directorate.
“Indeed, cyber attackers are extremely inventive and always find victims when such sensitive situations, emergency states and have taken advantage of this state of urgency of the health insurance platform by being unavailable for a long period and have launched a series of emails that, indeed, alarming or not, there were e-mails in this area.”, Declared CNAS Vice -President.
Larisa Mezinu explained that citizens’ data is safe.
“The computer platform from health insurance is well defended. From this point of view, of cyber security, we have both their own staff that is counted so that it can ensure at European standards the cyber security of the computer platform, visited the necessary licenses for this purpose and the platform was built so that they have these security layers, of maximum security, because, as you said, it contains the medical data, the data and the data,”, Declared Larisa Mezinu.
