PSD sounds mobilization for Crin Antonescu with gloomy forecasts: exit from government, mayors chosen in two tours and positions cut sources

The PSD leaders asked the mayors and presidents of the county councils to shoot in the campaign for Crin Antonescu, the common candidate of the coalition, “as if they were a PSD member,” sources from the party for Adevărul. Otherwise, the editors were threatened that Nicușor Dan will arrive in Cotroceni, who will name Ilie Bolojan. The two would impose several measures against the PSD: mayors elected from two tours, reducing the budgetary apparatus, cutting funds from the Ministry of Development. The PSD is considering the exit from the government if Crin Antonescu loses the presidential elections, sources from the party leadership say.

The leaders of the PSD, in front of Marcel Ciolacu and Paul Stănescu, held several discussions with the mayors to mobilize the party army in the election campaign, given that the opinion polls commanded by the coalition show a shoulder fight between Crin Antonescu and Nicușor Dan, say the sources quoted. “They told us to shoot for Crin Antonescu as if it were our candidate, PSD member. Otherwise we will all lose, from mayors to ministers”, Says one of the PSD mayors contacted by Adevărul.

The management of Kiseleff would have sent the leaders in the territory that, if Crin Antonescu misses the presidential final, Nicușor Dan has the highest chances to reach Cotroceni, not George Simion or Victor Ponta. And Nicușor Dan will force the resignation of the Ciolacu government and would name Ilie Bolojan prime minister. Even though he is part of the ruling coalition, Ilie Bolojan is not viewed with good eyes by PSD members. “Bolojan will start cutting as he did in Oradea and Senate. He’s just that knows how to do”, The PSD leaders from the territory reacted in the discussions with Ciolacu, Stănescu and Mihai Tudose. The PSD management estimated that Bolojan would combine more state institutions, others to abolish them, measures that would hit directly in the PSD, the party with the most leadership positions in the budget apparatus.

Opposition, engagement of institutions and mayors in two tours

The money from the Ministry of Development, especially from the Anghel Saligny program, coveted by the mayors of the ruling coalition, could be much more difficult in the case of a government change, the PSD leaders to the local elected officials also sent them.

Also, if Nicușor Dan is elected president, the PSD expects the USR to be co -opted. And the USR leaders have already transmitted to the social-democratic parliamentarians that among the reforms imposed by the new coalition will be the choice of mayors in two tours. “We lose many mayors if the electoral system is changed, because all the parties will be coalized against the PSD candidate in the second round. Here we also rely on UDMR, who does not want to hear of choices in two tours”, Says one of the PSD mayors in the party leadership.

About the election of the mayors in two tours, Paul Stănescu, the Secretary General of the PSD, spoke in public. “C.Is it happening if we lose the elections, if Crin Antonescu is not president? I tell you, two serious things happen: we have no prime minister. And two, to the mayors, you know that I love you, we will surely have elections in two tours and at the City Hall and the County Council“, Stănescu said, at an electoral meeting in Suceava.

Although the PSD has the most parliamentarians, and a pro-European majority is impossible without social-democrats, the leadership of the party has told the mayors that they could wake up in the opposition if Crin Antonescu misses the chair.

It was clear to everyone that Marcel Ciolacu is leaving the government and the party if Crin does not leave the president. Even if we are the largest party, it will be difficult to impose a new prime minister if we lose the presidential election”, I say the sources quoted.

PSD takes into account two variants if Crin Antonescu fails: either remains in government, in a PNL coalition, UDMR and USR, but without prime minister and with fewer ministries. Either votes the new government, but then goes into the opposition. “Than in government with USR better in opposition ”was the conclusion of the discussions between central and branches.

The mayors promised that they will shoot for Crin Antonescu, but they warned the leaders in Bucharest that they can no longer control the electorate as in the past. “It is much harder for us to convince people. At the premises and in the parliamentary there is another story, but in the presidential everyone votes as they think. In the fall, they told us in front of voting with PSD in parliament, but in her presidential I go with Călin Georgescu ”explains one of the PSD mayors of the commune.
