On Monday, May 12, the contract for the construction of the second lot of the Cluj-Napoca Road Metropolitan Belt, with a total length of 40 kilometers, was signed.

The contract worth 4.72 billion lei, excluding VAT, is carried out by the City Hall of Cluj-Napoca.
“Green wave for carrying out a new large infrastructure contract carried out in partnership with local authorities. It was signed today (May 12) and the contract for the construction of the second batch of the Cluj-Napoca road metropolitan belt”, Said Sorin Grindeanu, Minister of Transport.
Lot 2 of the Metropolitan Belt Cluj-Napoca consists of 23.67 km of new national road, built on profile of 4 lanes (2 lanes per direction), to which are added about 17 km of connecting roads and will be held between the Floresti node, the Calea Turzii node and the node that ensures the connection with the bypass. The connecting roads will allow the connection of the new belt sector with the localities in the Periurban area of Cluj-Napoca, including Floresti commune.
The contract is funded by the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure, based on a protocol concluded between the National Company for the Administration of Road Infrastructure (CNAIR) and the association formed by the town halls of Cluj-Napoca and of the communes Floreşti, Gilău, Baciu, Apahida. It provides for the design and execution of 40.67 kilometers, within 48 months.

The scroll of this contract, worth 4.72 billion lei (excluding VAT), financed by the transport program 2021-2027, is the City Hall of Cluj-Napoca“, Added the Minister of Transport.
On the route will be built and five tunnels in a total length of almost two km, 14 road knots, a bridge over the Becaş river, bicycle tracks with a total length of 30.35 km. Also, a maintenance and coordination center (CIC) will be made, a service space, which will later allow the construction of commercial spaces, based on concession contracts and two short -term parking.
