A recent change in road legislation, which allows drivers to overcome car columns under certain conditions, raises question marks related to road safety. Titi Aur, an expert in defensive leadership, points out that this change can lead to dangerous situations and serious accidents.

“It is a change in harm,” said Titi Aur in an intervention for DC News, referring to the fact that, until now, overcoming columns was forbidden. In the new context, drivers can perform such maneuvers, but only if there is no continuous line and the intersection is properly signaled, the former champion explained.

“The story with the exceedance of the column is a novelty, because until now you were not allowed to overcome the column. Now, this rule has been changed again, from my point of view”, said Titi Aur.

“Defensively speaking, we do not have to go over”

During the show, a concrete situation was discussed: a driver engages in overcoming a column, enters the counter and collides with a car that enters the road with priority without giving priority. Who is guilty in this case?

According to Titi Aur, the responsibility belongs to the one who enters the secondary road, without priority. Even if the car in overdue circulates on the counter, in the absence of a continuous line or a prohibition indicator, the maneuver is legal. Therefore, the obligation to give priority is the one who enters the main road.

If you go beyond the column and one does not give you priority that it comes from the left, he is guilty, because when you enter a road you have no priority, you have to make sure from the left, and from the right. If one is overcome, normally it would have nothing to look for at an intersection, but if directed, you are allowed to overcome, only if there is no continuous line before the intersection. At most intersections it is a continuous line before the intersection, but if it is not a continuous line, the exceeding is allowed.

The one who enters the road without priority, on the priority road, must give priority. So he is the culprit, if there is an accident ”, Clarified the situation of the defensive leadership expert

However, Titi Aur stresses that, in practice, such situations can generate confusion and endanger the lives of traffic participants. He insists on the fact that a civilized circulation would assume that all intersections are pre -emphasized and provided with continuous lines that prohibit any attempt to overcome them.

However, in a civilized circulation, the intersections should be signaled and pre-established. It would also be advisable to be a continuous line, so that no car, any column is allowed. In principle, we should not exceed at an intersection, but if there is no forbidden exceedance indicator, there is no continuous line, but only intersection indicator with road without priority, we have the right to overcome, and the one who comes from the road without priority is guilty that he has not given priority. Defensively speaking, we should not go over in such an area ”, said Titi Aur.
