Official warning: The unpaid money from the educational card will be withdrawn soon. What can parents buy

The Ministry of Education and Cheerfulness (MEC) and the Ministry of Investments and European Projects (MIPE) warn the beneficiaries of support for the acquisition of school supplies that the amounts for the 2024-2025 school year will be withdrawn.

The supplies are an important expense for the beginning of the Photo School Year: Archive/Am

In the school year 2024-2025, approximately 670,000 preschoolers and students benefited from the aid intended for the purchase of supplies and other products necessary to attend kindergarten and school. The amounts, 500 lei/school year, began to be loaded in December 2024. The end of this month is the deadline for spending amounts.

“The Ministry of Investments and European Projects (MIPE), Together with the Ministry of Education and Research, I remind the parents that the amounts of 500 lei transferred on the educational cards for the school year 2024-2025 can be spent until August 31, 2025. (…) The deadline mentioned is regulated by the Government Emergency Ordinance no. 83/2023 regarding some measures to support the disadvantaged preschoolers and students who benefit from educational support based on electronic vouchers granted from non -reimbursable external funds, as well as for taking measures in the field of education, with subsequent modifications and completions. Thus, the amounts that will not be used until August 31, 2025 will be automatically withdrawn from accounts by the issuers of the cards and will no longer be used by the beneficiaries ”, warns MIPE representatives.

And the miniter of education and research has appealed, on their own site, to the parents who have loaded these educational cards and who have not spent the amounts transferred to use the amounts until the end of the summer.

The support, by supplying electronic cards that have been distributed to the parents, is provided by the Inclusion and Social Dignity Program, managed by the Ministry of Investments and European projects. The program will continue in the coming years, to guarantee equal access to education for all children in Romania, MIPE announces.

The support of 500 lei/school year benefits the preschoolers enrolled in the state education (between 3 and 6 years), as well as the students of the primary and state secondary cycle, from the families in which the average monthly net income per family member, realized in July of each year, to be – on average – a maximum of 50 %.

Parents can buy exclusively school supplies (stationery, notebooks, pens, bags, painting materials, etc.) and useful clothing for school (clothing and/or footwear), as there is no possibility to withdraw the amounts from this card.
