The changes announced by the PSD in terms of CASS could open the gate for education adjustments. Although Minister Daniel David believes that the fiscal-budget law on Monday will not be modified, the new excess proposals from the payment of contributions suggest that the scenario is no longer excluded. But not this school year, Minister Daniel David explained in an interview for “Truth”.
The minister stated, for the truth, that possible adjustments could exist, but not regarding the current school year: “We have started the school year. The world has to understand: during the school year, you cannot recommend the merits, excuse me that I use barbarisms like this. You can not change the teaching norm, you have no way to do these things.”
“Now we have no money”
He added that he is willing to take into account changes for the future, especially depending on the environment in which the teacher teaches: “Yes, for the time payment, I am willing to think for next year, for the budget we have, because we can think of an indicator according to contexts, depending on where you teach for example. Yes, if you teach in a disadvantaged environment, if you teach in the rural area, if you want to go in several school units, there are things that you can do.”
The minister also said that these discussions must be designed for the future, because the school year has already begun “in the logic of measures in education, on a fiscal-budgetary”. “The other measures in package 1 or package 2 may be modified, because they are not logically linked to a school year. said Daniel David.
Teachers from all over the country, at the greatest protest in education
We recall that, on September 8, teachers from all over the country came to Bucharest for the largest education in recent years. Thus, instead of the usual festivities, with hot speeches and receptions, the first day of school brought meetings and protest marches. The Federation of Free Trade Unions (FSLI), the “Spiru Haret” Federation and the “Alma Mater” National Federation organized a meeting in Victoriei Square, followed by a march to the Cotroceni Palace.
“This protest action is the expression of the deep dissatisfaction of the education staff against the constant refusal of the government to repeal the provisions of Law 141/2025”, The trade unionists said.
Among the claims are the annulment of the increase of the didactic norm by two hours, stopping the combination of schools and increasing the number of students in the class, as well as returning to the reduction of scholarships and the decrease of the tariff to pay by the hour, from 60 lei to 22 lei.
