Remus Pricopie: “The school is neither the politicians, nor of the unions – it is of the students, our children”

The rector of SNSPA, Remus Pricopie, sent a call and dialogue in the context of the protests of the teachers who affected the beginning of the new school year on Monday.

“Today, almost three million children should have started school, but many courtyards remained empty, and the opening festivities did not take place. This situation raises a painful question: what is more important, the right to remuneration and decent working conditions or the duty to be with students on the first day, and a school is not a year, and a school the connection between school and community“, Declared Prof. Univ. Dr. Remus Pricopie.

Respect for teachers, but also for students

Remus Pricopie stressed that he understands the claims of the teachers, but they should not be done to the detriment of the students. “As a former Minister of Education, I understand and respect the claims of the teachers, but I think they should not be achieved to the detriment of the students, who are the most vulnerable and who have no guilt in this conflict. The dialogue and negotiations must continue, but the protests should not hit the children.“He said.

In his opinion, the Ministry of Education has the responsibility to develop a solid investment plan in the didactic profession, and the unions must show solidarity and contribute to finding balanced solutions.

“Education must be a joy, not a conflict”

„ȘThe school is neither the politicians, nor of the unions – it is of the students, of our children. Therefore, we have a duty to find solutions that make their education a joy, not a permanent conflict“Said the rector SNSPA.

He was convinced that trade union and political leaders can quickly find a compromise, if they would communicate and listen more: “I know the union leaders and know the political leaders of the ruling coalition. All are serious, responsible people. I am convinced that if they talked more to each other-and especially if they were listening to each other-they would find decent formulas very quickly to move together, not separately”.

Message for students, parents and teachers

In the end, the rector SNSPA has sent wishes for the beginning of the school year: “I wish the students curiosity and confidence, parents patience and hope, teachers and joy to give, unions and governors the wisdom to build together. And to those who believe they can gain political visibility – with the ‘stick’ through the school fence – even on this special day, I wish to take the place, for the school, ours. “
