Increases the number of cases of infection with the West Nile virus in Romania. The warning of the authorities

The National Institute of Public Health announced that, between June 2 and September 18, 30 cases of West Nile virus were registered in Romania. Of these, 29 are confirmed, and one is considered a probably case.

The cases were registered in Bucharest (10) and Alba counties (1), Braila (3), Dolj (1), Galaţi (5), Ilfov (1), Iasi (1), Prahova (1), Sălaj (1), Timiş (2), Teleorman (1), Tulcea (1), Vâlcea (1).

These are 15 people in the age group 70 – 79 years, four of the 60 – 69 -year -old group, 6 50 – 59 years and two of the age group over 80 years and one of the age groups 10 – 19 years, 40 – 49 years, 30 – 39 years.

In this context, the specialists of the National Institute of Public Salts make several recommendations for the population.

They are advised to use repellent chemicals for mosquitoes; to prevent the penetration of mosquitoes into the house (through window protection nets); to ensure the drawing of the water puddles around the household and remove the containers of stacked water and the household waste from the household.
