Google launched the new artificial intelligence model Gemini 3, in competition with OpenAI

Google unveiled its new artificial intelligence model, Gemini 3, on Tuesday in a move aimed at speeding up the race with OpenAI, the creator of ChatGPT, reports CNBC.

The new model promises more precise and nuanced answers to complex questions, with less need for clarification from the user, Alphabet CEO Sundar Pichai said.

Gemini 3 will be integrated into the Gemini app, AI Mode search functions and AI Overviews, as well as enterprise products. The rollout begins Tuesday for a limited group of subscribers, and will be expanded in the coming weeks, according to the News.

The announcement comes just eight months after Gemini 2.5 and less than a year after Gemini 2.0, while OpenAI released GPT-5 in August. Pichai pointed out that the evolution of AI over the past two years “he went from reading text and images to reading the surrounding context”.

Google says Gemini 3 is designed to better understand user intent and provide genuine insight, avoiding standard wording and overly flattering answers. Existing AI models will be kept for simple tasks.

The Google AI ecosystem continues to grow: the Gemini app has 650 million monthly active users, and AI Overviews is used by 2 billion users. OpenAI reported 700 million weekly users for ChatGPT in August.

Amid fierce competition in the sector, the tech giants – Alphabet, Meta, Microsoft and Amazon – have significantly increased their AI infrastructure budgets, estimating total spending of more than $380 billion this year.

Google also announced a new platform for developers, called Google Antigravity, which allows programming at the task-oriented level. Gemini 3 also includes advanced capabilities of “vibe coding”an emerging trend where the code is generated entirely through textual commands.

The new model can create generative interfaces, presenting information in the form of a “digital store” with images, tables and interactive elements. In AI Mode, subscribers will be able to generate physical simulations, credit calculators or custom visual pages.

Companies will be able to access Gemini 3 through Vertex AI for applications such as automation of onboarding processes, high-accuracy video analytics, optimization of production lines and procurement management.
