Ilie Bolojan was asked, on Friday, in the press conference, how he comments on the fact that, in the government, Cătălin Drula’s sister-in-law, Alina Gîrbea, was appointed as secretary of state in MIPE, and she requested the government to settle her housing and transport, in the context in which salary cuts are being discussed in Romania, according to Mediafax.
“As you know, each party has a weight in the coalition and proposes a secretary of state. Mrs. Gârbea is the proposal for secretary of state made by USR”said Bolojan.
The Prime Minister stated that Alina Gîrbea was checked and “from the point of view of the legal regulations (…) he had no problems”.
“He has a professional background that looks good, but we don’t do personnel or kinship files. So, from that point of view, I think the government did the right thing.” explains Ilie Bolojan.
Regarding the issues related to the settlement of rent and transport, the prime minister said that he does not know whether Alina Gîrbea has made a request or not, but “there are legal provisions according to which a secretary of state, a minister, can benefit from work housing for which he pays a certain form of rent, in such a way that, during his term of office, he has a place to live”.
Bolojan recalled, in context, that when he was secretary general of the government “those who were on duty in these apartments had looked after finishing their term”, and now that he is prime minister, this is “no longer possible”.
Pâslaru: “It is not my role to make such analyses”
The Minister of European Funds, Dragoş Pîslaru, was asked, on Thursday, at the Government, if he knows the fact that Alina Roxana Gîrbea, his new secretary of state, is the sister-in-law of Cătălin Drula.
“It’s not my role to make such analyses, it’s a decision…And I think you went to a certain school or a high school or a kindergarten, and with all that I don’t necessarily think you know what your classmates from kindergarten, school and high school did after that, after 20 years, 30 years. Maybe you have closer relationships with your colleagues than I had. But all in all, I have an institutional role of coordinating the institution, I have received this morning the lady Alina Gîrbea, after the act of appointment entered into forceI am convinced that we will have a professional collaboration, it is not my role to investigate any aspects related to your personal life. I assure you that, institutionally, Mrs. Gîrbea meets all the conditions, considering her CV and her professional ability to brilliantly represent the portfolio of dignitaries, state secretaries in the Ministry of Investments and European Projects”answered Dragoş Pîslaru.
